Reverberations

Yoga Nidra did not lull me back to sleep. So here I am on my laptop at dawn reflecting on past words and writings and the invitation to continue to evolve today.

Every moment is unique yet within it I often find some elements are new and some are familiar.  Depending on your experience or relationship to time, this may feel particularly alive as the present hints of potential futures which reflect not so distant pasts.

The three upcoming posts were written more than a decade ago in my first blog - To What End?  This question shapes how I move in the world and with whom I move. It influenced exploration of  strategy and evaluative practice and how these often siloed endeavors warranted reimagining for the  21st century, particularly in the US settler/colonizer created philanthropic industrial complex.

A few things about these early writings:

  • The word impact is one I rarely use these days as it conveys a “doing to” as opposed to “being with” that is counter to how I wish to be approached or how I wish to be in relationship with others.

  • We are part of the natural world in spite of our efforts to dominate it or believe we are separate from it. As my practices have evolved over the past decade or so I more regularly use ecological metaphors, references and teachings to guide how I understand myself and engage with others.

  • I did not have the understanding of positionality then that I do now, but I have always been keenly aware of who I am. The multiplicities -both visible and not - mattered and affected my understanding and experience on this planet.

It is interesting what remains salient today almost 15 years later from my foray into writing publicly. I say that with no judgment as I believe change takes the time it takes, simply a musing.
